Steve Woodward, Chief Executive Officer
A veteran of the newspaper industry, Steve has led three journalism startups in more than 30 years as a general manager, editor, and reporter. After receiving his master’s degree from the prestigious University of Missouri School of Journalism, Steve worked as a reporter at The Kansas City Star. There, he participated in the paper’s coverage of the deadly collapse of a Kansas City luxury hotel’s skywalks – reporting that earned the staff the 1982 Pulitzer Prize for local reporting. He later served as business editor for two major metropolitan dailies: the Hartford Courant and The Oregonian in Portland, Oregon. In 1982, Steve joined the staff of the Kansas City Business Journal, a startup that would grow into American City Business Journals Inc., a 41-city chain of business newspapers. Steve has also served as the editor of the San Francisco Business Times and general manager and editor of the Business Journal of Portland, both members of the American City chain.
Steve Suo, Executive Vice President and Editor
A 2005 Pulitzer Prize finalist and 2007 Pulitzer Prize winner, Steve holds a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. During his 20 years as a journalist, Steve distinguished himself with projects that applied what people once called “computer-assisted reporting” to a variety of public policy problems. Steve possesses extensive training and experience in databases, GIS applications, statistical analysis and economic theory. Steve’s experience developing on-line interfaces for accessing public records guides Nozzl Media’s efforts to put public data directly in the hands of users.
